Socio: A Cultural Journey of Asia-Pacific Cocktails

Located in Central, Socio is an exciting new cocktail bar that embraces the concept of society and single-origin. Focusing on spirits and wines from the Asia-Pacific region, Socio takes pride in sourcing local ingredients to create a unique and immersive drinking experience.

Socio is currently soft launched and is expected to officially open its doors in February. Currently, there are four signature cocktails on their menu during the soft launch: Anise Myrtle (Australia), Alba (Sri Lanka), Kome (Japan), and Bae (Korea). When fully operational, their menu will extend to include a wider range of regions such as Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, India, and Vietnam.

Each cocktail on their menu centers around a specific country, highlighting its distinctive ingredients and flavors, often featuring lesser-known ingredients like Vietnamese pepper and Bae Pear from Korea.

For example, the cocktail Bae, inspired by a variety of pear from Korea, uses Korean Soju and Ginseng as base, floating with mulberry wine on top and garnished with macerated Bae. As a long drink, Bae evolves with dilution. Initially, the prominent sesame aroma resembles the savory sense of a noodle soup. However, as you continue sipping, the sesame notes mellow, allowing the pear flavors to shine through, with a slight lingering bitterness from the Ginseng. The Soju undertones are subtle and soft, despite the strong alcohol, making it a drink that is effortlessly enjoyable.

Other cocktails, such as Kome and Anise Myrtle, each showcase different elements. Kome highlights rice flavor and hints of wasabi, while Anise Myrtle offers a bitter-sweet but freshing taste profile.
